Rancho Mirage

Location

Rancho Mirage is a beautiful, well-established resort community, about 2.5 hours away from Los Angeles (approximately 115 miles), 2 hours West of Orange County (Disneyland), and 4 hours south of Las Vegas by car.  The city is in the heart of the Coachella Valley, making it a quick trip west to the Palm Springs entertaining, nightlife and shopping, and only minutes away to the south from the ever-popular El Paseo Drive, the Coachella Valley’s own “Rodeo Drive”. 

 

About Rancho Mirage

Rancho Mirage is known for its offerings of high-end living, its long history of attracting many celebrities (Bob Hope, Fred Astaire Ginger Rogers, Lucille Ball, Mary Martin, and many others), as well as its world-class dining and shopping.  With a population of a bit over 17,000, the city has thirteen golf courses, also known as country clubs or golf resorts.  The homes and condos are primarily in gated communities, many are part of the adjoining country club or golf course.

 

History

Rancho Mirage got its claim to fame after World War II. The Annenberg Estate or Sunnylands, owned by philanthropists Walter and Leonore Annenberg, had long been popular with the wealthy and powerful, including Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Patrick Macnee, and Mary Martin. Several United States Presidents have vacationed at the Annenberg estate, including Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and Gerald Ford. President Ford later bought a house in Rancho Mirage and was living there at the time of his death in 2006. The Betty Ford Center, a world-renowned addiction rehabilitation center.  Rancho Mirage is also home to the sought-after Eisenhower Medical Center.

Artisan is a small gated community in Rancho Mirage, California.
